Maryam Shabbir is a biomedical animator, interactive developer, and illustrator with a passion for science communication. Originally from Jacksonville Florida, she received her BS in Biomedical Science and minored in Painting, Drawing, and Printmaking at the University of North Florida. Her passion for science and art inspired her to pursue the Biomedical Visualization (BVIS) program at UIC, where she received her Master of Science in 2022.

     During her time in the BVIS program, Maryam developed her skills in the realms of animation, 3D modeling, and virtual reality. She aims to pursue a career that enables her to collaborate with fellow biomedical visualizers and researchers to create high-quality assets to be utilized in animation and virtual reality development pipelines. She is also passionate about prioritizing diversity and aspires to create a body of work centered on uplifting unique and marginalized perspectives.

     In her spare time, Maryam enjoys creative writing, dancing, gaming, and continuing to hone her skills in traditional media.
